Summer Fun With Dogs …..and What To Do When You Must Leave Them Home

Billy & Beth Harwell, OwnersBilly and Beth parasailing at the Outer Banks

We love adventure as you can tell from the photo gracing the top of this post.  When we can take the dogs with us we do so, but sometimes they have to stay home. Something tells us they would not fare well in a parasailing adventure.  We have never taken them white water rafting with us either.  Beau however, might have liked the cold water…..he never could seem to get enough of it. And we have never taken them anywhere they might have to fly.  So that means no trips to Key West, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon or Sedona with us.

There are lots of activities to do locally with our pets. Our favorite local spot is Lake Norman State Park.

Any time of the month take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Dogs are welcome if on leash so you are sure to find multiple spots to take in the view or go for a hike. Check it out.

Another way cool place is Stone Mtn State Park in Roaring Gap, NC. We love to hike there with the dogs and are so grateful that our dogs can PULL when necessary. There are some steep trails there.  3042 Frank Parkway, Roaring Gap, NC 28668.

To tell us about your favorite places comment below.  We would love to know where you find local adventure.

But if  you like adventure as much as we do, you probably need to leave your fur babies behind sometimes too.  The next time you need to leave your furbabies behind contact a local pet sitter to give your furkids a vacation too. A great way to find a stellar pet sitter is to visit Pet Sitters International for listings.
